How To: Poison Ivy Eyes

How to: Poison Ivy Eyes

So! Hello, my name is Goldie, and I'm writing a little blog entry today! This makeup tutorial couples with the Poison Ivy outfit that is also on this blog. This tutorial was also not in any way professionally done or anything... at all. It basically consisted of things that I found in my medicine cabinet, and my little amount of skill (earned by just being a teenage girl) I have with makeup.Without further ado, here it is!

So this is my eye without any makeup on. I didn't use primer beforehand, but looking at my photos after, I probably should of.

Step 1: Apply eyelid primer.

Step 2: I used Mary Kay At Play eyeshadow. First, apply the lightest color to your entire eyelid. This will help the blending and overall coverage.

Step 3: In your mind, split your eyelid into three sections: Light brown, dark brown, and green. After the light brown is applied to your entire eyelid, apply the darker brown to two-thirds of your eyelid, starting from the middle out.

Step 3: Use the green to fill in the remaining third of your eyelid. Make sure to reach the color all the way up to the leafy eyebrows (if your choose to make them, that is) because it just looks like a nice way to tie the makeup into them. Make sure all three colors are blended well into each other, so that there isn't a harsh line separating each color. I also used an angular brush to underline my eyes with the green.

Step 4: Use liquid eyeliner to line your eyes (I prefer winged as opposed to regular liner for a more sassy effect).

Step 5: Apply your favorite mascara to complete the look!

VA Comicon August 31 REVIEW

Woah, I have totally missed Comicon! Can we just all get together and make sure there is a Comicon every weekend because THIS COMICON was SO AWESOME! There were the coolest cosplays and some seriously great vendors! I got to see my two favorite artists Bert and Lee Lacy! Love them! Even though one of them couldn't name my costume ;)
(I was an Orion Slave Woman from Star Trek Enterprise. Gosh)

I also got to know Matt Slay who does really fantastic illustration and design! I got this really cool maleficent poster from him. Here is a photo of myself and my two friends Kendall and Goldie checking out all the art this guy had.

And just in case you were wondering, yes the 501st Legion was there. They are so cool, and that is coming from a die-hard Trekkie! I really need to get some photos with them!
SPEAKING OF PHOTOS lets talk about the photogrophers! Strike and Hide and Howell's Visions Photography were both there and were both taking some serious awesome pictures! So here are some photos from both of these guys Facebook pages, but really check out there Flickr pages because they have so many cool photos!

VA Comicon August 31

I am so excited for the next VA Comicon!
It will be Sunday August 31 at the Clarion at 3207 N Blvd, Richmond, VA 23230.
My favorite artists Bert and Lee Lacy will be there as well as a lot of other really awesome vendors!
If you are a VIP (10$ ticket) you can check in at 9:30 and enter the Vendor area at 10, if you are just the average comicon- go-er (is there really such a thing?) (5$ ticket) then you can check in at 10 and enter at 11! The costume contest starts at 3:00 and as far as this post goes, the comic con will end at 4:00.

I've been working on a costume and can't wait to get my Comicon on! Hope to see some old faces and make some new friends!

RavenCon Review!

I don't think I could have been anymore excited with all that RavenCon had to offer! I loved what all the dealers were selling, the costumes were great, and I got a ton of info on upcoming cons!
It was a three day Con, but I wasn't able to make it Friday- I went Saturday and Sunday. No let me tell you about Sunday- because that was an experience all within itself. I had a track meet that I had to wake up early for- I left that early to go to a Jazz Festival where, as an officer in Sci Fi club, I volunteered to represent by serving food. Here is the catch tho- I had to immediately level Jazz Festival to go to RavenCon- so I dressed in full Andorian Costume at Jazz Festival an served food. Needles to say I scared a few people impressed some others and in general was asked a lot of questions. Here is a selfie I took (that was apparently tweeted with the caption "But first, let me take a selfie")

The prosthetic for the Andorian was pretty awesome, though I did have one issue and that was that I couldn't get my antennae to do anything right. And I forgot to draw my eyebrows. But, if you still think it's cool and are impressed or think you could do it better then just go and check out the post I created about it: Trek Cosplay: Andorian Style!

Alright, less about me more about RavenCon! Like I said before, I really enjoyed the diversity of all the dealers! There was a really great T-shirt dealer where I got a firefly shirt and Jane's hat. There were a quite few jewelry/accessory tables (remember this Con was dedicated to females basically). At one table I bought two headpieces and at another I bought a beautiful hip scarf. And of course I bought cute art:

But alas, for it seems that out of all the friends I had join me at this con, I and maybe two others were the only one who were impressed. This Con was lacking in the anime department, and it also had a whole lot of Steam Punk (which I thought was awesome but others disagreed), and there also wasn't very much fan art to be sold. I think there were only two art tables and then there was one professional artist (I guess he was more professional than others. He was the guest of honor, he had some pretty rad but definitely expensive art).
So that was that- and then the Costume Contest/ Masquerade was pretty awesome as well, I didn't enter because there was a whole lot of rules, but those who did enter looked pretty awesome!

The last picture is of all the costumers entered into the contest. And the first two were my favorites that I had good pictures of (I had many more favorites but no good pictures of them)

And then here are me and my friends! (By the way, on Sunday I dressed as an Orion Star Fleet officer!)

So that was RavenCon! If you have any questions or comments just, you know, write a comment- especially if you were at RavenCon! Because I would love to hear your opinions- especially the opinions of people who really enjoyed RavenCon!

Trek Cosplay: Andorian Style

So I am a Trekkie, I know-- it's a Surprise. But I have always had this problem, that being: I do the same cosplay every time. I am always a Star Fleet officer, or a Vulcan, or both. Now don't get me wrong, I am in love with cosplaying these roles, these absolutely perfect characters. But the world of Star Trek is so huge. I want to do more. Be more.
So I found the videos necessary for this. And the makeup.
And I am going to share it with you.
You're welcome.
So in my personal opinion the Vulcan and the Human Star Fleet officer are the basics to Star Trek cosplay. It isn't complex and videos for make up tutorials and finding the right prognostics are easy.
The difficult stuff are the other aliens.
Lets start with:

Andorians

The first video I actually found was a Andorian Prosthetic applying tutorial from FX Warehouse (really great place for cosplay supplies).

The tutorial is simple to follow, and you know where to find and buy all the makeup and the prosthetic needed (which, can I just say, is so nice because I have been searching for this for so long).
As for the costume,
Andorians could be found most from the Enterprise series,
they dressed in dark colors, leather, battle stuff.

But if a costume like this isn't available to you or beyond your creative capabilities (definitely beyond mine), then any sort of Star Trek uniform would be fine, or a Trek t-shirt and jeans.
Hey! It is the make-up that people will be giving you mad props for-- the costume is just icing on the cake!

I hope this was helpful!
Be on the look out for more posts like this, especially as I try to expand my Trek Cosplaying! And if you have any suggestions for a cosplay (of any kind) just write it in the comments!
Thanks!
Keep on Trekkin!
